Safety Alert Form |
|
|
The Safety Alert Form is created for students and parents to report concerns to the home campus. Our goal is to ensure ALL students feel safe and comfortable at school. While we always encourage students to come and talk to us we understand that the form is a way to help students remain anonymous on reporting certain incidents. With that all students should understand that telling a falsehood on a Safety Alert form is a Class III offense in the WISD Student Code of Conduct. Example concerns could include: bullying, threats, gang problems, selling of drugs or alcohol, a weapon at school, etc. Forms can be accessed on-line at www.wisd.org/docs/6-WISD%20Safety%20Alert%20Form.pdf Once completed forms can be turned in to a teacher, counselor, or administrator. For further questions you can call Howard 8th Grade Center 972-923-4771.

P.R.I.D.E Prepared-Respectful-Integrity-Determination-Encouraging |
Howard’s PRIDE system consists of rewarding students who exhibit good behavior, who come to school, who make good grades, and who get to class on time because these are the behaviors we want in ALL students.
This is how it works.....students who exhibit the behaviors listed above earn PRIDE Points. PRIDE points are accumulated and used to earn prizes as well as an end of the semester Principal Party!! |

Attendance Policy |
|
|
The Waxahachie ISD Board Policy requires that a student attend every class 90% of each Semester or the student is in violation of compulsory attendance standards.
*Excessive absences may be made up on a limited
basis by attendance at Saturday School.
Students who are absent from school ten (10) or more days in a six (6) month period or three (3) or more days or parts of days within a four (4) week period are considered truant by the State of Texas. When this occurs it is the school district’s responsibility to file a complaint with the proper court against both the parent/guardian and the student.
** (3) tardies for 1st period in a four week period equals 1 unexcused absence.
1.The only absences which will be excused are:
*Illness - documented by original note from doctor, dentist, or school nurse;
*Court-related - documented by legal documents, court papers;
*Funerals – documented by a program, prayer card, or obituary from service.
2. All other absences are considered unexcused.
* Only two (2) parent notes are accepted per semester.
*Documentation for excused absences must be turned in to the Attendance Officer. Documentation will not be accepted later then three (3) days from the date of the last absence. Parent phoned notes, phone calls; e-mailed notes are recorded but are NOT accepted as official documentation of student absences.
* Upon returning to school the note must have students name, ID#, date of absence, contact phone #, signed by parent that describes the absence along with the length of the absence...ex. All day, 5th-8th periods ONLY, etc.
