WHAT IS ECONOMICS ABOUT? Economics is about how the decisions made by individuals, firms and the government affect the way in which resources are distributed and used in a society. It is about how we deal with the problem of scarcity and how we maximize utility to obtain the greatest satisfaction of our needs and wants. WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT MACROECONOMICS? Macroeconomics is one of two general fields in economics. It is the study of behavior and decision-making in the aggregate of entire economies such as our nation's economy. Microeconomics, on the other hand, focuses on the decision-making of individuals and individual firms.
