WCA faculty, staff, and students honored America’s veterans and those currently serving in our armed forces by joining together in a Memorial Day ceremony. As a student proudly raised the American flag, our own Mrs. Youngblood spoke about Memorial Day’s history and special meaning. All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance once the American flag and Texas flag had reached the top. Mrs. Maxwell led us all in the singing of “America the Beautiful” as students and guests lay red, white, and blue carnations at the base of the flagpole to honor those who have served. One special carnation was also placed at our memorial bench, which was dedicated in honor of Mr. Al Holdeman, a much missed member of the WCA team who passed away last year. Our thanks go out to Mr. Collins and the Curriculum & Special Education departments for joining us on this special day. |
